Bela noć! / The White Night!

(The White Night!), made on the poem by same title by Serbian slam poet Goran Živković Gorki, from his upcoming poetry book Psihoslajdovi (Psychoslides).
Goran is also competing this week on European Poetry Slam Championship and the 6th interdisciplinary culture festival “Crazy Tartu" in Tartu, Estonia, as a Serbian Slam Champion.
Good luck!

da skinu me do pojasa
da promaše i udare u petočlanu porodicu bez plafona
                       //////////////////
tako je uvek i bilo
na omiljenoj slomljenoj klupi
probudim se u ponoć
dvoumim se sat vremena
pokupim te u pola dva ujutru
usput nekoliko praznih ambalaža
i betonskih jastuka sa Filmskih susreta

ruku pod ruku stisnem te
istresem te kao poslednji gutljaj
ispred zatvorene trafike

i 7 dana u sobi bez vazduha, jeftina isparenja
bez komšiluka, bez drugog dnevnika, kurve iz hodnika
bez dinara, praznika, kontrole, konduktera
7 dana bez signala i propuštenih poziva
samo fijuk ventilatora
morska so u bojleru
i upaljena ringla u mraku
                 //////////////
7 dana
dok nas ne probudi sirena za prestanak opasnosti
repriza Boljeg života
i krkljanje Srećnih ljudi
 ///////////////////////

okolo proleću bestseleri
sigurnosni pojasevi, ležeći policajci
okolo vetar gura kamion za pranje ulice
liže poklopce nagradne igre
koju šaht neće da proguta
i samo se grafiti guraju u liftu
dok poplava diže katance iz podruma
na osmi sprat, slušajući
kako udaraju nezatvoreni prozori

kako padaju mesečne kartice
cegeri, štipaljke i kineske lutke
pod muzikom crnih ptica
proleću sniženja iz mesare
SNS članske karte
nasmejani posteri, prekrštene ruke
kuponi narodne kuhinje
pod muzikom crnih ptica
10 dana, 150 dana, 550, 950 dana novog premijera
na omiljenoj slomljenoj klupi
gledam kako seva iza brda

bela noć čupa granje RTS-a
prašina i lišće u hodnicima ugašenog televizora
(počinje prava vremenska prognoza)
////////////////

oohh, kako volim ponoć u sobi bez vazduha
apokaliptične uspavanke

oohhhhh dolaze, kao krv crveni
brutalni anđeli, paganski anđeli
jeftino pivo, žestina, jeftina isparenja
nebeskih kontejnera...
                                          u sobi bez vazduha draga

THE WHITE NIGHT!
                                       (apocalyptic lullabies)

 if, instead of reruns of Happy people[1] on Sunday evenings
I scrape the ceiling of a looted madhouse

if, I swallow a bulb’s shadow for dinner
or spread on bread that which is left
between the toes
waiting for thunders on the Sinđelic Square[2]
to unclothe me from the waist up
so that they miss and hit in a family of five, without a ceiling
 //////////////////

it’s always been like that
I wake up at midnights
on my favourite broken bench in the park
standing at pause for an hour
I pick you up at half past two a.m.
with a few empty packagings
and concrete pillows from a Film festival, by the way

hand in hand and I squeeze you
and shake you out like a last swig
in front of a closed kiosk
and 7 days in a room without air, inexpensive fumes
no neighbors, no primetime news, hookers from the hall
penniless, without a holiday, control, conductors
7 days without a signal and missed calls
just the whiz of a fan
sea salt in the boiler
and a lit cooker in the dark
//////////////

7 days
until we wake up by the ceasing of a danger alarm sirene
the rerun of the Better Life[3]
and the gurgling sounds of the Happy People

 ///////////////////////

bestsellers springing around
seat belts, speed bumps
wind pushing a truck washing streets round about
licking lottery covers
that a manhole refuses to swallow

only the graffiti pushing each other in an elevator
while floods are rising locks from the basement
on the eighth floor, listening
unclosed windows slamming

monthly tickets falling
Shopping bags, clothes pins and Chinese dolls
buchers’ shope sales springing up
under the black birds’ song
SNS[4]
membership cards
smiling posters, crossed arms
soup kitchens’ coupons
under the black birds’ music

10 days, 150 days, 550, 950 days of our new Prime Minister
on my favorite broken bench
watching the lightning beyond the hill

the white night is plucking the branches of National TV Service
dust and leaves in the halls of the defunct TV
(the real weather report begins)
////////////////

oohh, how I fancy the midnight in an airless room
apocalyptic lullabies

oohhhhh here they come, red like blood
brutal angels, pagan angels

cheap beer, hard liquor
cheap vapors of heavenly containers ...
in a room without air
my dear
